FAQs and Terminology of Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra, often referred to as “yogic sleep,” is a guided meditation and relaxation technique that allows practitioners to achieve a state of conscious relaxation. While lying down in a comfortable position, participants are led through a systematic process of relaxation, breath awareness, and visualisation.

Setting a Sankalpa, or intention, is a crucial aspect of Yoga Nidra. During a session, participants are guided to choose a positive and meaningful statement that aligns with their personal goals or desires. Crafting a Sankalpa involves focusing on positive language and expressing intentions in the present tense as if they are already happening.

SWAN Analysis in Yoga Nidra stands for Strength, Weakness, Ambitions, and Needs and Neutrals. Swami Niranjan is the Inventor of the S.W.A.N. Theory in a Methodical practice.  SWAN Analysis is a process and tool for self-enquiry. It can be used when you feel you need clarity around some aspect in your life. It can be used regularly to reflect on your life. Through supported and guided attention to these aspects, practitioners can enhance self-awareness and explore the depths of their consciousness. A SWAN analysis does NOT result in an answer or solution, but is a tool to bring clarity of thought.
